Lesson Plans for the week of April 19-23
Monday: Today, students were given a handout which was additional practice over Sections 6.5 and 6.6. Students were assigned all even numbered problems. Student have the opportunity to work the odd numbered problems as well for extra credit. This assignment will be due tomorrow.
Tuesday: Today, we discussed Section 6.7 - Polynomial Long Division. Students were assigned to work all even numbered problems from the handout given in class. This assignment will be due on Thursday due to teacher inservice on Wednesday.
Wednesday: Today, 3rd hour did not have class due to inservice. 4th hour did have class, and they were allowed to continue working on Tuesday's assignment, which will be due tomorrow.
Thursday: Today, we continued practice on Section 6.7 - Polynomial Long Division. Students were assigned to work all odd numbered problems from the handout given on Tuesday.
Friday: Today, students were given a Chapter Review Handout (Practice Test) and were assigned to work all problems. This assignment will be due to Monday. Students will also have a quiz on Monday over Sections 6.5-6.6. There is a practice quiz in their test, called Self-Test 3 at the end of chapter 6. On Tuesday, students will be taking the Chapter 6 Exam.
Lesson Plans for the week of March 29-April 2
Monday: Today, students were given the opportunity to continue work on Section 5.12. This lesson will now be due on Tuesday.
Tuesday: Today, students were give a practice exam, or a review handout over Chapter 5. Students were assigned to work all problems, with 27 and 28 being for extra credit. Students will have a quiz tomorrow over Sections 5.10-5.12, and the Chapter 5 Exam on Thursday. There is a practice quiz in the text called Self-test 4.
Wednesday: Today, students will be taking the quiz over Sections 5.10-5.12. Once finished, we will be reviewing for tomorrow's exam over Chapter 5.
Thursday: Today, students will be taking the Chapter 5 Exam. No Homework.

Monday: No School, Snow!!!
Tuesday: Today, we reviewed all types of factoring seen prior to Spring Break. We also began discussing Section 5.11. The assignment will be given tomorrow and students will have the period to work on this lesson in class.
Wednesday: Today, we continued our discussion of Section 5.11 "Using Several Methods to Factor." Students were given a handout and were assigned all even numbered problems, including Mixed Review. 2 points extra credit was offered to those students willing to work all problems from the handout. This assignment will be due tomorrow.
Thursday: Today, we graded the homework in class. Due to the difficulty of this lesson, another day is being spent on this section. Students were assigned all odd numbered problems from the handout, including Mixed Review. 2 points extra credit will be awarded to any student completing the even numbered problems assigned on Wednesday. This assignment will be due tomorrow.
Friday: Today, we discussed Section 5-12 "Solving Equations by Factoring." Students were given a handout and were assigned all even numbered problems, including Mixed Review. 2 points extra credit was offered to those students willing to work all problems from the handout. This assignment will be due on Monday.

Tuesday: Today, we discussed Section 5.10 - "Grouping." Tomorrow, students will be taking a quiz over sections 5.7-5.9. There is an example quiz in the book called Self Test 3. Once finished with the quiz, students will have the remaining part of the hour to work on the homework assigned from Section 5.10.

Thursday: Today, we used the class period to do our Semester Math Strategy, which is required by each class as preparation for the State Assessment Test. Students had the opportunity to earn up to 10 points extra credit for successfully completing the assigned problems.
Friday: Today, we used the class period to do our Semester Reading Strategy, which is required by each class as preparation for the State Assessment Test. Students had the opportunity to earn up to 10 points extra credit for successfully completing the assigned problems.

Thursday: Today, due to high results on the Chapter 10 Exam, students were rewarded with a day off from math. They had the opportunity to watch the movie "UP". No Assignment!!!
Friday: Today, we finished the movie "UP". Students were also given a grade printout to be taken home and signed by parents for extra credit. No Assignment!!!

Thursday: Today, students took a quiz over Sections 10.1-10.2. Some students requested additional time for Section 10.4 homework. They were assigned to work all problems from the handout. Those who felt good about their assignment from Wednesday had no homework.

Monday: Today, tests were returned to the class and our time was spent working through problems that students were needing to see. The Redo Exam over chapter 9 will be given tomorrow.
Tuesday: Today, students were given the opportunity to retest over chapter 9.
Wednesday: Today, Redo Exams were returned and a new seating arrangement was assigned. We also discussed school available math resources for those with low grades in algebra right now. No assignment.
Thursday: Today, we discussed Section 10.1 - "Order of Real Numbers." Students were given a handout and were assigned problems 1-32 evens and Mixed Review evens. 2 points extra credit was offered to those students willing to work all problems from the handout. This assignment will be due tomorrow.
Friday: No School!!! Snow Day.

Monday: Today, we discussed Section 9.5 - Multiplication with Addition-Subtraction Method. Students were assigned Written Exercises 1-24, even numbered problems. This assignment will be due tomorrow.
Tuesday: Today, we worked through problems that were confusing to students and continued our discussion of Section 9.5 - Multiplication with Addition-Subtraction Method. We added to the assignment from yesterday, so the assignment is now Written Exercises 1-35 even numbered problems and Mixed Practice 1-27 even numbered problems. This assignment will be due tomorrow.
Wednesday: Today students were given a review sheet over Sections 9.1 and 9.2. Students were assigned to work problems 1-14, all problems. Tomorrow, we will continue our review over Sections 9.4 and 9.5. The Chapter 9 Exam will be on Friday.
Thursday: Today students were given a review sheet over Sections 9.4 and 9.5. Students were assigned to work problems 6-11 and 1-10, all problems. Tomorrow, students will be taking the Chapter 9 Exam. Study!!!!

Monday: Today, we discussed Section 9.2 - The Substitution Method. Students were assigned Written Exercises 1-36 multiples of 3 and Mixed Review 1-12 multiples of 3. This assignment will be due tomorrow.
Tuesday: Due to poor results from section 9.1, students were given a new handout and assignment for this section. Students were asked to work all problems on the handout 1-24, including Mixed Review 1-6. The assignment given over Section 9.2 will now be due on Thursday.
Wednesday: Today, we continued work on Section 9.2 - The Substitution Method. The assigned problems from Monday will be due tomorrow.
Thursday: Today during 3rd Hour, we discussed Section 9.4 - The Addition-Subtraction Method. We will work on the assignment tomorrow during class.
4th Hour, we also discussed Section 9.4 and students were assigned Written Exercises 1-27 multiples of 3 and Mixed Review 1-12 multiples of 3. This assignment will be due tomorrow for 4th hour students only.

Lessons Plans for the week of December 7-11
Monday: Today, students in 3rd hour began Section 8.3 "Slope of a Line." These students will also have a quiz tomorrow over Sections 8.1 and 8.2, example quiz on page 358 of text called Self Test 1. 3rd Hour students were also given a problem handout and were assigned to work problems 1-15.
4th hour students began Section 8.4 "The Slope-Intercept Form of a Linear Equation." These students were given a problem handout and were asked to work all even numbered problems.
Tuesday: Today, students in 3rd hour worked second part of Section 8.3 "Slope of a Line." These students also took a quiz tomorrow over Sections 8.1 and 8.2. 3rd Hour students were also assigned to work problems 16-36, MR 1-8 even numbered problems.
4th hour students began Section 8.5 "Determining an Equation of a Line." We will work the assignment tomorrow in class.

Lessons Plans for the week of November 30- December 4
Monday: Today, we discussed Section 8.1 "Equations in Two Variables." Students were assigned Written Exercises 1-40 multiples of 3, Extra Credit #42, and 44. This assignment will be due tomorrow.
Tuesday: Today, our student body went to Frontenac High School to hear a presentation over drinking and driving, and its impacts on families. 3rd Hour had No Class. We returned for the start of 4th hour. During 4th hour, we discussed Section 8.2 "Points, Lines, and Their Graphs." No Assignment. Students will work homework for this section in class tomorrow.
Wednesday: Today, teachers had a half day of Inservice, so students only attended school for half of the day. Classes today were only 7th, 6th, 5th, and 4th periods. Due to this schedule, 3rd hour Algebra students did not have class. 4th hour students were given a handout over Section 8.2 to work for homework and were assigned problems 1-24 evens, and Mixed Review 1-10 evens. This lesson will be due tomorrow.
Thursday: During 4th hour, we discussed Section 8.3 "Slope of a Line." Students were once again given a handout for homework and were assigned 1-15 all problems. Students from 4th hour will also be given a quiz tomorrow over Sections 8.1 and 8.2, example quiz on page 358 of text called Self Test 1

Lessons Plans for the week of November 16 - 20
Monday: Today, we discussed Section 4.8: "Rate-Time-Distance Problems." Students were assigned to work Problems 1- 16 all problems except the redo set, Mixed Review Exercises 1-8 all problems except the redo set, and Extra Credit #18 and 20. This assignment will be due tomorrow.
Tuesday: Today, students determined that they needed more time on Section 4.8. We worked additional problems together in class and students were assigned to work Problems 1- 16 all problems except the multiples of 3, Mixed Review Exercises 1-8 all problems except the multiples of 3, and Extra Credit #18 and 20. This assignment will be due tomorrow.
Wednesday: Today, students were assigned to work the Chapter Test on page 180 of the text. Students were to work 1-22 all problems. There will be a quiz tomorrow over Sections 4.7 through 4.8. There is an example quiz in the text on page 177 called Self-Test 3. The Chapter 4 Exam will be tomorrow.
Thursday: Today, we reviewed for the Chapter 4 Exam, which will be given on Monday. Students also took a quiz over sections 4.7-4.10.
Friday: Today students took the Chapter 4 Exam.
Lessons Plans for the week of November 9 - 13
Monday: Today, we discussed Section 4.6 "Multiplying Polynomials." Students will work the assignment from this Section tomorrow during class. No Homework!!!
Tuesday: Today, students used the entire class period to work on the assignment from Section 4.6. Students were assigned Written Exercises 1-49 multiples of 3, Mixed Review Exercises 1-9 multiples of 3, and Extra Credit #50. This assignment will be due tomorrow. Students from 4th hour were assigned additional problems due to excessive class talking. They are also working a second third of the assigned problems starting with #2 and doing every third there after. Their homework should look like this (2,3, 5,6, 8,9, 11,12, etc.)
Wednesday: Today, the Veteran's Day Program used up some of the class period, so all we did was grade our lesson. There will be a quiz tomorrow over sections 4.3-4.6. There is an example quiz in the book called Self-Test 1 on page 164.
Thursday: Today, we discussed Section 4.7 "Transforming Formulas." Students were assigned to work all Oral Exercises 1-12. Students also took the quiz over sections 4.3-4.6.
Friday: Today, students used the period to work on Section 4.7. Problems assigned were Written Exercises 1-26 multiples of 3, Mixed Review Exercises 1-8 multiples of 3, and Extra Credit #28. This assignment will be due on Monday. Those students that did not do Thursday's assignment were assigned to work additional problems. There assigned problem set was to do all problems with the exception of the redo set (Redo set is #1, 4, 7, 10, etc.). Students from 4th hour were assigned additional problems once again due to excessive class talking. Those that completed the problems assigned on Thursday were assigned all problems except the redo set. Those that did not do Thursday's assignment had to do all the problems.

Monday: Today, we discussed Section 4.3 "Multiplying Monomials." 4th hour students were assigned to work Written Exercises 1-40 multiples of 3, Mixed Review Exercises 1-12 multiples of 3, and Extra Credit #42, 44, and 46. This assignment will be due tomorrow. 3rd hour students will work this assignment in class tomorrow. There will be a quiz over Sections 4.1-4.2 tomorrow. There is an example quiz in text on page 151 called self test 1.

Friday: Today, students used the entire class period to work on the assignment from Section 4.5. Students were assigned Written Exercises 1-42 multiples of 3, Mixed Review Exercises 1-9 multiples of 3, and Extra Credit #44. This assignment will be due on Monday.

Monday: Today, all students had the opportunity to retake the Chapter 3 Exam. No Assignment!!!!
Tuesday: Today, I was not at school, so I assigned students to work Oral Exercises from Section 4.1. Students were asked to read through the example problems and attempt problems 1-34 all problems.
Wednesday: Today, we discussed Section 4.1 "Exponents." Students were assigned to work Written Exercises 1- 47 multiples of 3, Mixed Review Exercises 1-9 multiples of 3. Extra Credit 48. This assignment will be due tomorrow.
Thursday: Today, we discussed Section 4.2 "Adding and Subtracting Polynomials." Students will work the assignment from this Section tomorrow during class. No Homework!!!
Friday: Today, students had the class period to work on their homework assignment from Section 4.3. Students were assigned to work Written Exercises 1- 52 multiples of 3, Problems 1-14 multiples of 3, Mixed Review Exercises 1-10 multiples of 3, Extra Credit 54 and 56. This assignment will be due on Monday.
Lessons Plans for the week of October 19 - 23
Monday: Today, we reviewed for the Chapter 3 Exam, which will be given tomorrow. Students also took a quiz over sections 3.6-3.7.

Wednesday: Today, students were encouraged to use the class time to do redo assignments. Those who did not need redo opportunities were allowed to watch a movie as tests were being graded. Tests should be ready to return to students tomorrow and the Redo Exam will be offered now on Friday.
Thursday: Today, students were given a handout over Section 3.5. This was assigned as a result of low test grades from Chapter 3. We once again discussed the 4 step process to solving a variable equation and worked several problems relating to the handout. Students were assigned to work all even numbered problems from the handout. Those students whose parents I did not have the opportunity to talk to during parent teacher's conference were given a grade printout from the 1st quarter and were asked to take it home to have a parent sign and bring back for extra credit.
Friday: Today, I returned tests to the class and the hour was spent working through problems that students were needing to see. The Redo Exam over chapter 3 will be given on Monday.

Thursday: Today, we discussed Section 3.7 "Cost, Income, and Value Problems." Students were assigned to work Problems 1- 16 multiples of 3, Mixed Review Exercises 1-9 multiples of 3. Extra Credit 16 and 18. This assignment will be due tomorrow.

Tuesday: Today, students in 3rd hour worked second part of Section 8.3 "Slope of a Line." These students also took a quiz tomorrow over Sections 8.1 and 8.2. 3rd Hour students were also assigned to work problems 16-36, MR 1-8 even numbered problems.
4th hour students began Section 8.5 "Determining an Equation of a Line." We will work the assignment tomorrow in class.

Lessons Plans for the week of November 30- December 4
Monday: Today, we discussed Section 8.1 "Equations in Two Variables." Students were assigned Written Exercises 1-40 multiples of 3, Extra Credit #42, and 44. This assignment will be due tomorrow.
Tuesday: Today, our student body went to Frontenac High School to hear a presentation over drinking and driving, and its impacts on families. 3rd Hour had No Class. We returned for the start of 4th hour. During 4th hour, we discussed Section 8.2 "Points, Lines, and Their Graphs." No Assignment. Students will work homework for this section in class tomorrow.
Wednesday: Today, teachers had a half day of Inservice, so students only attended school for half of the day. Classes today were only 7th, 6th, 5th, and 4th periods. Due to this schedule, 3rd hour Algebra students did not have class. 4th hour students were given a handout over Section 8.2 to work for homework and were assigned problems 1-24 evens, and Mixed Review 1-10 evens. This lesson will be due tomorrow.
Thursday: During 4th hour, we discussed Section 8.3 "Slope of a Line." Students were once again given a handout for homework and were assigned 1-15 all problems. Students from 4th hour will also be given a quiz tomorrow over Sections 8.1 and 8.2, example quiz on page 358 of text called Self Test 1
Friday: Today, 4th hour students took a quiz over sections 8.1 and 8.2.

Monday: Today, tests were returned to the class and our time was spent working through problems that students were needing to see. The Redo Exam over chapter 4 will be given tomorrow.
Tuesday: Today, students were given the opportunity to retest over chapter 4.

Lessons Plans for the week of November 16 - 20
Monday: Today, we discussed Section 4.8: "Rate-Time-Distance Problems." Students were assigned to work Problems 1- 16 all problems except the redo set, Mixed Review Exercises 1-8 all problems except the redo set, and Extra Credit #18 and 20. This assignment will be due tomorrow.
Tuesday: Today, students determined that they needed more time on Section 4.8. We worked additional problems together in class and students were assigned to work Problems 1- 16 all problems except the multiples of 3, Mixed Review Exercises 1-8 all problems except the multiples of 3, and Extra Credit #18 and 20. This assignment will be due tomorrow.
Wednesday: Today, students were assigned to work the Chapter Test on page 180 of the text. Students were to work 1-22 all problems. There will be a quiz tomorrow over Sections 4.7 through 4.8. There is an example quiz in the text on page 177 called Self-Test 3. The Chapter 4 Exam will be tomorrow.
Thursday: Today, we reviewed for the Chapter 4 Exam, which will be given on Monday. Students also took a quiz over sections 4.7-4.10.
Friday: Today students took the Chapter 4 Exam.
Lessons Plans for the week of November 9 - 13
Monday: Today, we discussed Section 4.6 "Multiplying Polynomials." Students will work the assignment from this Section tomorrow during class. No Homework!!!
Tuesday: Today, students used the entire class period to work on the assignment from Section 4.6. Students were assigned Written Exercises 1-49 multiples of 3, Mixed Review Exercises 1-9 multiples of 3, and Extra Credit #50. This assignment will be due tomorrow. Students from 4th hour were assigned additional problems due to excessive class talking. They are also working a second third of the assigned problems starting with #2 and doing every third there after. Their homework should look like this (2,3, 5,6, 8,9, 11,12, etc.)
Wednesday: Today, the Veteran's Day Program used up some of the class period, so all we did was grade our lesson. There will be a quiz tomorrow over sections 4.3-4.6. There is an example quiz in the book called Self-Test 1 on page 164.
Thursday: Today, we discussed Section 4.7 "Transforming Formulas." Students were assigned to work all Oral Exercises 1-12. Students also took the quiz over sections 4.3-4.6.
Friday: Today, students used the period to work on Section 4.7. Problems assigned were Written Exercises 1-26 multiples of 3, Mixed Review Exercises 1-8 multiples of 3, and Extra Credit #28. This assignment will be due on Monday. Those students that did not do Thursday's assignment were assigned to work additional problems. There assigned problem set was to do all problems with the exception of the redo set (Redo set is #1, 4, 7, 10, etc.). Students from 4th hour were assigned additional problems once again due to excessive class talking. Those that completed the problems assigned on Thursday were assigned all problems except the redo set. Those that did not do Thursday's assignment had to do all the problems.

Monday: Today, all students had the opportunity to retake the Chapter 3 Exam. No Assignment!!!!
Tuesday: Today, I was not at school, so I assigned students to work Oral Exercises from Section 4.1. Students were asked to read through the example problems and attempt problems 1-34 all problems.
Wednesday: Today, we discussed Section 4.1 "Exponents." Students were assigned to work Written Exercises 1- 47 multiples of 3, Mixed Review Exercises 1-9 multiples of 3. Extra Credit 48. This assignment will be due tomorrow.
Thursday: Today, we discussed Section 4.2 "Adding and Subtracting Polynomials." Students will work the assignment from this Section tomorrow during class. No Homework!!!
Friday: Today, students had the class period to work on their homework assignment from Section 4.3. Students were assigned to work Written Exercises 1- 52 multiples of 3, Problems 1-14 multiples of 3, Mixed Review Exercises 1-10 multiples of 3, Extra Credit 54 and 56. This assignment will be due on Monday.
Lessons Plans for the week of October 19 - 23
Monday: Today, we reviewed for the Chapter 3 Exam, which will be given tomorrow. Students also took a quiz over sections 3.6-3.7.
Tuesday: Today, students took the Chapter 3 Exam. No Assignment!!!
Wednesday: Today, students were encouraged to use the class time to do redo assignments. Those who did not need redo opportunities were allowed to watch a movie as tests were being graded. Tests should be ready to return to students tomorrow and the Redo Exam will be offered now on Friday.
Thursday: Today, students were given a handout over Section 3.5. This was assigned as a result of low test grades from Chapter 3. We once again discussed the 4 step process to solving a variable equation and worked several problems relating to the handout. Students were assigned to work all even numbered problems from the handout. Those students whose parents I did not have the opportunity to talk to during parent teacher's conference were given a grade printout from the 1st quarter and were asked to take it home to have a parent sign and bring back for extra credit.
Friday: Today, I returned tests to the class and the hour was spent working through problems that students were needing to see. The Redo Exam over chapter 3 will be given on Monday.

Extra Credit 30 and 32. This assignment will be due tomorrow. Students also have a quiz tomorrow over Sections 3.1-3.3. There is a practice quiz in the text called Self Test 1 on page 111.

Friday: Today, 3rd hour students used the first part of the period to do a math strategy for state assessment preparation. Their second half of the period was used working on the assignment from Section 3.5. 4th hour students had the entire period to work on the assignment. Tuesday: Today, students took the Exam over Chapter 1. No assignment.
Wednesday: Today, I returned Chapter 1 Exams and students were given the opportunity to see any problems that they may have missed worked and explained. Tomorrow, those students interested will be given the opportunity to take a redo exam.
Thursday: Today, students had the opportunity to take the Chapter 1 Retest Exam. Those students who did not wish to retest were assigned to read through Section 2.1 and work the Oral Exercises 1-25 all problems. Those retesting did not have to do this assignment.
Friday: Today, we discussed Section 2.1 "Basic Assumptions." Students were assigned to work Written Exercises 1- 34 multiples of 3, Mixed Review Exercises 1-9 multiples of 3, and Extra Credit #36. This assignment will be due on Tuesday.

This example test is very similar to the actual Chapter 1 Exam which will be given next Tuesday. There will be a quiz on Monday over Sections 1.8-1.9. There is an example quiz on page 39 called Self-Test 3.
