Lesson Plans for the week of November 28-December 2

Monday, November 28th - Today, we discussed proper use of the table saw. Students were shown how to rip their 2 x 6 bench at 15 degree angles at both sides.

Tuesday, November 29th - Today, students continued Saw Horse Project by ripping 2 x 6 bench at 15 degree angled rips on each side.
Wednesday, November 30th - Today, students continued Saw Horse Project by cutting 1 x 6 legs to 2' 6" length using Miter Saw. Students had to cut a compound 15 degree angle at both ends.

Thursday, December 1st - Today, students continued Saw Horse Project by cutting 2 x 6 bench to 4' length using Miter Saw. Students also began ripping plywood for leg bracing. The 2 x 6 bench and 4 legs were turned in for grading based off of cut accuracy.

Monday, November 21st - Today, students continued Saw Horse Project by cutting 1 x 6 legs to 2' 6" length using Miter Saw. Students had to cut a compound 15 degree angle at both ends.

Lesson Plans for the week of November 14-18

Monday, November 14th - Today, students took a performance quiz over cutting using the Circular Saw. Student were required to cut a board to exactly 3' 1" using the circular saw.
Tuesday, November 15th - Today, we began discussing the Miter Saw. Students were shown how to operate the saw along with proper safety when using the saw. Students then practiced cutting using this saw.

Monday, November 7th - Today, we began discussing the Circular Saw. Students were shown how to operate the saw along with proper safety when using the saw. Students then practiced cutting using this saw.

Thursday, November 10th - Today, students were assigned to work on both Chapter 4 Review Questions and Trade Terms. Both will be due tomorrow.

Friday, November 11th - Today, students continued work on both Chapter 4 Review Questions and Trade Terms. Both were due by the end of the period.


Lesson Plans for the week of October 24-29

Monday, October 24th - Today, we covered the 3rd PowerPoint Session over Chapter 3 "Basic Hand Tools."

Tuesday, October 25th - Today, we went to the shop and students practiced using various clamps, squares, levels, and hand saws. Students were required to measure, mark, and cut a 3" piece of 2x4 using the handsaw, clamp, and square.

Wednesday, October 26th - Today, we completed the final PowerPoint Session over Chapter 3 "Basic Hand Tools." NCCER study guides are due tomorrow.
Thursday, October 27th - Today, students turned in their NCCER study guides and they were graded and returned. Tomorrow, students will be taking their NCCER Exams over Chapter 3 "Basic Hand Tools." Students also began a team based Timber Jack Competition which was a fun was to have students complete performance evaluations.

Friday, October 28th - Today, students took the Chapter 3 NCCER Exam.


Lesson Plans for the week of September 19 - 23

Monday, September 19th - Today, we discussed the Engineer's scale. Students also had an opportunity to correct any missed line measurements for half credit. No Assignment.

Wednesday, September 21st - Today, students were given a mach concrete construction project where they took measurements from a pre-existing sidewalk and driveway that was to be replaced. Students will be graded on their accuracy taking these measurements. Tomorrow, students will learn how to take these measurements and determine both the cost and quantity of this concrete job.
Thursday, September 22nd - Today, we discussed the concrete project measurements taken yesterday. Students were given a set of measurements to use on their cost/quantity estimate for the job. We also discussed how to work with both fractions and decimals, how to find area and volume. These math principles will be used tomorrow to determine the cost/quantity of this job.

Lesson Plans for the week of September 12 - 16

Monday, September 12th - Today, we discussed both the Standard English units measuring system and the metric units measuring system. Students measured lines using both types of measuring system. A quiz will be given tomorrow over measuring and the math discussed on Friday.

Tuesday, September 13th - Today, students took a quiz over both measuring and basic construction math. Students used the end of the period to work on both Review Questions and Trade Terms which are due on Friday.
Wednesday, September 14th - Today, I was out of the building, so students were given an additional day to work on Review Questions and Trade Terms. Both are due on Friday.

Thursday, September 15th - Today, we discussed measuring using an architect's scale. Students measured lines using the 1/4" architect's scale. A quiz will be given tomorrow over measuring using the architect's scale. Review Questions and Trade Terms are also due tomorrow.

Friday, September 16th - Today, students took a measuring quiz using the architect's scale. Students had to measure various lines using the 1/4" scale and the 3/4" scale. Review Questions and Trade Terms were also due today.

Monday, September 5th - No School!!! Labor Day.

Tuesday, September 6th - Today, students took the Chapter 1 NCCER Exam. Once finished, students watched a construction video called "Build it Bigger - Arizona Cardinals Football Stadium Project." No Assignment.

Wednesday, September 7th - Today, finished the video shown yesterday "Build it Bigger." Once finished, students took the NCCER pretest over Chapter 2. No Assignment.

Thursday, September 8th - Today, students were assigned the Review Questions and Key Terms Quiz from Chapter 2 "Construction Math." Both of these will be due toward the end of next week.

Friday, September 9th - Today, we began discussing Chapter 2, Construction Math. Students were given NCCER study guides to fill out while we discussed the material. No assignment.


Lesson Plans for the week of August 29-September 2

Monday, August 29th - Today, students conducted Performance Evaluations which included what to look for when examining personal protective equipment and properly putting on fall protection. Once finished, students had the remaining part of the hour to work on Chapter 1 Review Questions and the Trade Terms Quiz. Both the Review Questions and Trade terms quiz will be due on Wednesday at the beginning of the class period.

Tuesday, August 30th - Today, we began the 4th Session PowerPoint presentation over Chapter 1 and students continued filling out their study guides for the NCCER Exam as they followed along. Students were also given approximately 20 minutes of class time to continue work on Review Questions and Trade Terms Exam from the end of the chapter. Both will both be due tomorrow at the beginning of the hour.

Wednesday, August 31st - Today, we began the 5th Session PowerPoint presentation over Chapter 1 and students continued filling out their study guides for the NCCER Exam as they followed along.

Thursday, September 1st - Today, we began the 6th and final Session PowerPoint presentation over Chapter 1 and students continued filling out their study guides for the NCCER Exam as they followed along. NCCER study guides will be due tomorrow at the beginning of the hour.

Friday, September 2nd - Today, students completed their NCCER Performance Evaluations for Chapter 1. Students were to recite and demonstrate proper lifting techniques. The Chapter 1 NCCER Exam will be on Tuesday.

Monday, August 22nd - Today, students gave PowerPoint Presentation to classmates over their architectural structures chosen from internet. No Assignment...

Tuesday, August 23rd - Today, we began discussing Chapter 1 from our text, "Basic Safety". Students were given a pretest over the chapter to see what they already knew. Students were also given a study guide for the upcoming NCCER Exam that will be given at the conclusion of the chapter. Today, we began the 1st Session of 6 PowerPoint presentations over Chapter 1 and students were asked to fill out their study guides for the NCCER Exam as they followed along. Students were also assigned the Review Questions and Trade Terms Exam from the end of the chapter. Both will be due the early part of next week.

Thursday, August 25th - Today, we began the 2nd Session PowerPoint presentation over Chapter 1 and students continued filling out their study guides for the NCCER Exam as they followed along. We also toured our metals shop area looking at both welding and cutting equipment. The Review Questions and Trade Terms Exam from the end of the chapter will both be due the early part of next week.

Friday, August 26th - Today, we began the 3rd Session PowerPoint presentation over Chapter 1 and students continued filling out their study guides for the NCCER Exam as they followed along. On Monday, students will begin NCCER Performance Evaluations for Chapter 1. Performance Evaluations are student demonstrations of understanding the class content. For this, students will be inspecting and putting on personal protective equipment and demonstrating proper lifting techniques. The Review Questions and Trade Terms Exam from the end of the chapter will both be due on Wednesday of next week.

Leon Plans for the week of August 18-20

Wednesday, August 18th - Today, we passed out books and reviewed syllabus. We also watched a slide presentation over Architecture in Dubai. No Assignment!!!

Thursday, August 19th - Today, we completed our slide presentation over Dubai Architecture. We also introduced our first project which is to be a PowerPoint Presentation over any amazing building or structure that each student could find on the internet. Students were asked to create a slide show presentation of 8 to 12 slides which highlights that structures most interesting features and facts. Student PowerPoint presentations will be due on Monday.

Friday, August 20th - Today, students were given the entire class period to work on their PowerPoint presentations over their building or structure. Student presentation will be given on Monday.
